After watching a sequence from Alfred Hitchcock's masterwork 'The Birds' showing the main actress fearfully heading to the attic of the house to encounter ... 
Working in teams of two, further storyline was created in new interpretations, using one of the extinct species: The Great Auk, The Passenger Pigeon and Dodo as the main mascot.

WEEK 4
"THE BLACK CAT"

After reading the "The Black Cat" by Edgar Allan Poe, the story was depicted by particular wordings which could have been interpreted either literally or metaphorically (TENDERNESS OF HEART, A CAT, THE FURY OF A DEMON INSTANTLY POSSESSED ME, A SILLY ACTION, HUNG IT WITH THE TEARS STREAMING FROM MY EYES, CRY OF FIRE, BLACK OBJECT, WHENEVER I SAT IT WOULD CROUCH BENEATH MY CHAIR OR SPRING UPON MY KNEES, MARK OF WHITE HAIR; ACCIDENTALLY THE AXE IN HER BRAIN, A FALSE CHIMNEY, A MONSTER).
The technique used was only watercolour.

WEEK 5
URBAN HAIKU ON GUY FAWKES' DAY

'Urban haiku' is a method invented by ​the poet Paul Lyalls where the poem is constructed of a title derived by answering simple questions or continuing associations (eg. '...which came from the Northern parts', 'John Johnson's real name was Guy Fawkes' or 'When I looked at the sky it was...') and the body represents three lines (7 + 5 + 7 words in a line without repetition).
The goal was creating ones own text content using mixed media for the artwork.

WEEK 8
CUTTING DOWN TO XMAS

For our last class before Xmas, it was time to do something jolly! 'Cutting down to Christmas' are calendars where a segment is being cut off daily until Christmas Day or New Year.....and each made a postcard with a wish they wanted to come true!

WEEK 9
BECAUSE OF THE SIMPLICITY OF THESE BASIC FORMS,
​THEY WERE ABLE TO SIGNIFY A NEW BEGINNING

Starting the new 2017 and marking 100 years from the 'end of painting' with Kazimir Malevich's BLACK SQUARE, the task was to Construct the Future using only basic shapes (circle, line, square, rectangle) and colours (black, white, red, emerald green, cobalt blue, ultramarine, lemon yellow) given by the Suprematist manifesto.

IMAGES OF SORROW

By understanding we overcome. Getting to know "sad" landscapes, "sad" still nature, "sad" surrealist images, "sad" portrays, we learn to look for beauty instead of sorrow.

WEEK 12
FROTTAGE

Frottage is a surrealist creative production technique developed by Max Ernest where a pencil or pastel is rubbed over an uneven surface to create a pattern.
